About NGC 4617
NGC 4617 is a spiral galaxy in the constellation of Canes Venatici. Its velocity with respect to the cosmic microwave background is 4,831±13 km/s, which corresponds to a Hubble distance of 232.4 ± 16.3 Mly (71.25 ± 4.99 Mpc). However, four non-redshift measurements give a closer mean distance of 198.96 ± 2.10 Mly (61.000 ± 0.644 Mpc). It was discovered by German-British astronomer William Herschel on 9 March 1788.
