About Sophia Hawthorne
Sophia Amelia Hawthorne was an American painter and illustrator and one of the first professional women artists in America. Her work was notably exhibited at the Boston Athenæum. Additionally, she published her journals and various articles. She was married to writer Nathaniel Hawthorne.
