Tate Names Jessica Morgan Director

Jessica Morgan, formerly director of the Dia Art Foundation, has been named Tate’s new director and will assume the role on January 1, 2027, overseeing Tate Modern, Tate Britain, Tate Liverpool, and Tate St Ives after succeeding Maria Balshaw. Her appointment comes as Tate faces financial losses, staff cuts, strikes, and declining attendance, though her track record at Dia and her Tate-influenced programming suggest a push toward broader international art history and representation.
