About Thomas Murphy
Thomas Murphy was an Irish-American businessman and politician from New York City. He served as a member of the New York State Senate for a total of three terms and as the Collector of the Port of New York from 1870 to 1871. He was a prominent figure in the Republican political machine run by U.S. Senator Roscoe Conkling.
