Huma Abedin, the ex-wife of disgraced pervert and former Democratic New York Rep. Anthony Weiner, has donated to her former beau’s campaign for New York City council, campaign finance records show.
Abedin contributed $175 to Weiner’s campaign on march 13, New York City campaign finance records show. A longtime aide to failed 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, Abedin is now engaged to left-wing heir and megadonor Alex Soros, though she still is supporting her ex-husband’s political comeback effort.
The Weiner campaign confirmed the authenticity of the donation in email correspondence with the Daily Caller News Foundation. The data entry for Abedin’s donation states that she is currently a self-employed consultant residing in New York City.
Weiner is running to represent New York City’s 2nd city council district, an area that includes parts or all of neighborhoods like the Greenwich Village, Lower East Side, East Village, Gramercy and Murray Hill.
Weiner served as the U.S. congressman representing New York’s ninth district for more than ten years before he resigned in June 2011 amid the first of several sexting scandals.
In 2011, Weiner mistakenly uploaded a link containing a suggestive picture of himself to his Twitter account, beginning a series of events that ended with his resignation from Congress. In 2013, additional public sexting incidents killed his campaign for mayor of New York City, and he was eventually arrested by for sexting with a 15-year-old girl before being sentenced to jail in 2017.
