Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is out of the race after disappointing results in the Super Tuesday states.

Bloomberg dropped his presidential bid on Wednesday after he skipped the first four primary states, while using the strategy of tossing about half a billion dollars into Super Tuesday states, in hopes of picking up enough votes there.

However, it didn’t seem to fare well for Bloomberg, results so far show him in fourth in the delegate count, gathering a sliver of votes compared to former Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.). This is despite his increase in national polls ahead of Super Tuesday, landing him in the third spot among the 2020 Democratic contenders.

In making the announcement, Bloomberg wrote in a press release, “I’ve always believed that defeating Donald Trump starts with uniting behind the candidate with the best shot to do it.”

He continued with his announcement of endorsing Biden, “After yesterday’s vote, it is clear that candidate is my friend and a great American, Joe Biden.”

“Three months ago, I entered the race for President to defeat Donald Trump. Today, I am leaving the race for the same reason: to defeat Donald Trump – because it is clear to me that staying in would make achieving that goal more difficult.”

Check out his post below:

I'm immensely proud of the campaign we ran. I'm deeply grateful to all the Americans who voted for me, and to our dedicated staff and volunteers. I want you to stay engaged, active, and committed to our issues. I will be right there with you. And together, we will get it done.

“I’m immensely proud of the campaign we ran” The former New York City mayor tweeted, adding, “I’m deeply grateful to all the Americans who voted for me, and to our dedicated staff and volunteers.”

President Donald Trump didn’t hesitate to chime in on Bloomberg exiting the race, as he tweeted, “Mini Mike Bloomberg just ‘quit’ the race for President. I could have told him long ago that he didn’t have what it takes, and he would have saved himself a billion dollars, the real cost. Now he will pour money into Sleepy Joe’s campaign, hoping to save face. It won’t work!”
