Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) is shifting her tone on President Donald Trump’s response to the coronavirus outbreak.
Shortly after Trump announced his approach to the coronavirus crisis which includes sending direct payments to Americans and utilizing the Defense Production Act, he received a positive response from Omar, as IJR previously reported.
“Politics aside, this is incredible and the right response in this critical time,” Omar tweeted.
More recently, Omar has returned to being critical of the Trump administration.
“He still continues to not recognize the role that he’s supposed to be playing when it comes to leading a nation that is facing a pandemic,” Omar said.
Listen to her comments below:
"The level of incompetency and narcissism… Is completely appalling. We want [Trump] to pay attention, lead, be honest, not be so focused on pointing fingers, and just do his job."@IlhanMN reacts to @DeanObeidallah over Trump's continued self-absorption during this pandemic. pic.twitter.com/FR5g5BzMr5

She explained how the administration has failed the American people by downplaying the crisis and failing to ensure there is enough testing.
She also claimed he has not utilized the Defense Production Act, which is responsible for accelerating the development of resources for medical personnel.
Omar pointed out the supply shortage states are facing including a lack of ventilators, masks, gloves, and gowns.
She criticized Trump for being narcissistic and failing to pay attention to the issues at hand.
“The level of incompetency and narcissism… is completely appalling. We want him to pay attention, lead, be honest, not be so focused on pointing fingers, and just do his job,” Omar said.
Omar is not the only one who has been critical of Trump for his rhetoric and approach to the pandemic.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) criticized Trump for his denial of the seriousness of the pandemic at the beginning, calling it “deadly.”
