Actor Johnny Depp took to Instagram for the first time to send encouragement to his fans struggling through the coronavirus pandemic.
Depp opened the message by acknowledging this is his first time interacting with social media.

Depp goes on to point out it is important to start a dialogue now as the world is facing this threat of an “invisible enemy.”
He discussed the damage it is causing across the globe.
“People are getting sick and fighting for breath. People are dying at frighteningly high rates,” Depp said. “Many are unable to provide for their children and their families as a result of this hideous global pandemic.”
Depp explained how many have lost their jobs and businesses.
He encouraged his listeners to help each other and stand together during this time.
“I feel we need to try to help each other throughout these dark times, these trying times, for those we love, for our community, for ourselves, for the world and for future,” Depp said.
Depp reiterated there is still hope even though some may feel they cannot do anything to help.
“But our minds are unbound and our hearts are not chained,” Depp said. “And we can care. And through caring, we will help each other and we will prevail. Caring is as close as the eye can see, it’s right in front of you at all times if you just have a look.”
Depp urged his fans to stay safe and healthy and inside their homes.
