As former Vice President Joe Biden’s (D) search for a running mate continues, he has a former first lady in mind for the job.

Biden confirmed he would pick former First Lady Michelle Obama as his running mate if she would take the position.

“I’d take her in a heartbeat,” Biden said. “She’s brilliant, she knows the way around, she is a really fine woman.”

Watch his comments below:

A few former presidential hopefuls have confirmed they would serve as Biden’s running mate if asked.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) answered “yes” when asked by MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow if she would be willing to accept the position, as IJR previously reported.

Warren tossed her support behind Biden shortly after former President Barack Obama’s endorsement.

Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) reported she would “be honored” to be considered for the position, as IJR previously reported.

Former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams said she would make an “excellent” running mate.

Abrams pointed to her experience in the private, public and nonprofit sectors as reasons she would be the right woman for the job.

Other lawmakers have acknowledged the significance of Biden’s decision to pick a female as his running mate including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.).

“To have our first female vice president, and to have that be a woman of color is a significant milestone,” Ocasio-Cortez said.

Biden reiterated he would rather choose a female to be his running mate when asked if he would consider New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D).

Biden garnered the most support from former presidential hopefuls defeating Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) on both the endorsement and delegate count.

Sanders announced his endorsement of Biden during a livestream after suspending his campaign.

Biden reported he doubts he can win over President Donald Trump’s base in the upcoming November election.
