Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) is expressing his disapproval of some of President Donald Trump’s latest tweets.

The California lawmaker recently took to Twitter to weigh in on the president’s ranting. With various screenshots of the president’s tweets, Schiff accused him of squandering the advantages he has had in life.

“Was there ever a man born to so much wealth and privilege, Given every advantage and opportunity life has to offer,” Schiff said, adding, “Placed in a position to wield immeasurable influence, Who has squandered it all so thoroughly? Always the victim, never the leader our country deserves.”

Given every advantage and opportunity life has to offer,

Placed in a position to wield immeasurable influence,

Who has squandered it all so thoroughly?

Always the victim, never the leader our country deserves. pic.twitter.com/8HHaC6Ervq

Schiff’s tweet followed a string of lashing tweets and retweets targeting reporters and journalists, accusing them of promoting “fake news.”

Trump also found himself at the center of controversy for the misspelling of the word “Nobel” in reference to the Nobel Peace Prize. The president also appeared to confuse the Nobel Prize with the Pulitzer Prize.

In a since-deleted thread of tweets, the president wrote in part:

“When will all of the ‘reporters’ who have received Noble Prizes for their work on Russia, Russia, Russia, only to have been proven totally wrong (and, in fact, it was the other side who committed the crimes) be turning back their cherished ‘Nobles’ so that they can be given to the REAL REPORTERS [and] JOURNALISTS who got it right.”

He later tweeted, “Does anybody get the meaning of what a so-called Noble (not Nobel) Prize is, especially as it pertains to Reporters and Journalists? “Noble is defined as, ‘having or showing fine personal qualities or high moral principles and ideals.'”

He then asked, “Does sarcasm ever work?”

Days before Trump’s tweets on Sunday, Schiff also spoke with MSNBC about all that has unfolded amid the president’s battle with the coronavirus.

Schiff said of Trump’s impeachment trial, “The strongest echo from the trial was when he was earlier talking about how he didn’t want to return the calls from governors, he didn’t want his vice president to return calls from governors that weren’t saying nice things about him. Really, they weren’t saying things about him that could then be turned into campaign commercials as indeed he has.”

“So, sadly, as we pointed out in the trial, a man with no moral compass will not find his way, and this president certainly hasn’t.”

During the interview, Schiff and the MSNBC anchor also discussed one of Trump’s decisions that they say contributed to many of the problems he is currently facing with the coronavirus response now — the disbandment of the pandemic preparedness office established under the Obama administration.

There’s a disturbing echo in Trump’s coronavirus response.

From eschewing pandemic preparedness and oversight to demanding praise,

Trump acts in his personal political interest, not the national interest.

Because a man with no moral compass will never find his way. pic.twitter.com/Z6M4p8ZS5Z

Schiff said, “He had to get rid of it because it was a product of the Obama administration, and the fundamental insecurity he has toward his predecessor meant he had to do away with anything associated with President Obama.”
