Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairman Tom Perez is certain the committee does not need to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden’s past any further.

Perez is backing the committee’s move to not convene an unbiased panel to investigate a sexual assault allegation made against Biden.

The allegation was made by Tara Reade, a former staffer while Biden was a senator, as IJR previously reported.

She is alleging Biden sexually assaulted her in 1993.

ABC’s Martha Raddatz asked Perez why the committee’s communication director called the idea of a panel “absurd.”

Perez came to Biden’s defense explaining he was already investigated prior to becoming Former President Barack Obama’s (D) running mate.

“They looked at the entire history of Joe Biden, his entire career,” Perez said.

He added, “Barack Obama trusted Joe Biden, I trust Joe Biden. Those investigations have been done.”

“They looked at the entire history of Joe Biden … Barack Obama trusted Joe Biden, I trust Joe Biden,” DNC Chairman Tom Perez tells @marthaRaddatz when asked why the DNC won’t convene an independent panel.

Biden denied the allegation in a statement released on Friday.

“They aren’t true. This never happened,” the statement reads.

Raddatz noted Biden has brushed aside the idea of searching for Tara Reade’s name in his Senate records housed at the University of Delaware.

When she pressed Perez on why they would not just do a search for Reade’s name in the documents, he compared it to Hillary Clinton’s emails where he alleged nothing was found.

“This is like the Hillary emails because there was nothing there,” Perez said.

He added, “When you ask the University of Delaware to take a look at something, you’re asking them to look for something that doesn’t exist. And the fact of the matter is that the president of the United States, the former president Barack Obama conducted an exhaustive search.”

The University of Delaware released a statement stating it has no plans to make Biden’s Senate records public in the near future, as IJR previously reported.
