Nike is committed to helping frontline workers across the United States and around the world amid the coronavirus pandemic one step at a time.

In partnership with the nonprofit Good360, the United States and local European organizations will “donate more than 140,000 pieces of footwear, apparel and equipment globally,” according to a statement released by Nike.

Nike also took to Twitter to announce the initiative.

“In recognition of frontline healthcare workers around the world, Nike will donate the Air Zoom Pulse and other product to healthcare athletes,” Nike wrote.

Nike’s initiative comes as the coronavirus continues to spread across the United States and around the world.

As of Thursday morning, there are more than 3,000,000 coronavirus cases globally, with more than 1,000,000 in the United States alone.

According to Nike, the initiative is an act of gratitude to frontline workers.

“The effort is led by messages of gratitude to healthcare professionals. From one athlete to another, Nike athletes recognize the physical and mental resilience of healthcare athletes,” the statement reads.

Thirty thousand pairs of Nike Air Zoom Pulse will be donated “to health systems and hospitals in Chicago, Los Angeles, Memphis and New York City, and within the Veterans Health Administration.”

Hospitals across Europe will receive 2,500 pairs.

The Nike Air Zoom Pulse is designed specifically for healthcare workers.

Healthcare workers in Los Angeles and New York City will also receive around 95,000 pairs of soccer socks.

Nike also listed other items they have donated to New York City and across Europe.

“Nike has donated 1,100 Nike Sportswear kits — which including drawstring bag, water bottle, hat or headband and socks — to healthcare workers in New York City,” the statement reads.

It continues, “Across Europe, Nike has donated nearly 4,000 pairs of shoes and more than 3,500 pieces of sweat-wicking Dri-FIT apparel to more than a dozen hospitals and shelters.”

Nike has also created and donated full-face shields and powered, air-purifying respirator (PAPR) lenses to protect healthcare workers.
