Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and Guns N’ Roses lead vocalist Axl Rose exchanged insults on Twitter over Mnuchin’s handling of the coronavirus outbreak.

Rose initiated the exchange.

“It’s official! Whatever anyone may have previously thought of Steve Mnuchin he’s officially an a******,” Rose tweeted.

It’s official! Whatever anyone may have previously thought of Steve Mnuchin he’s officially an asshole.

Mnuchin fired back at Rose asking him, “What have you done for the country lately?”

He made the mistake of initially using an emoji of the Liberia flag next to his tweet which he quickly replaced with an emoji of the American flag.

Pretty hilarious to call out Axl Rose’s American patriotism and then ADD THE WRONG FLAG pic.twitter.com/6Fc7fSSgfb

Rose caught on and was quick to criticize Mnuchin’s error. He also claimed the Trump administration is responsible for the rising coronavirus death toll.

“My bad I didn’t get we’re hoping [to] emulate Liberia’s economic model but on the real unlike this admin I’m not responsible for 70k+ deaths n’ unlike [you] I don’t hold a fed gov position of responsibility [to] the American people n’ go on TV tellin them [to] travel the US during a pandemic,” Rose said.

Rose’s comments come shortly after Mnuchin told Americans to focus on domestic travel as he is unsure of when international travel will resume.

Mnuchin encouraged Americans to “explore” the nation.

“This is a great time for people to explore America. A lot of people haven’t seen many parts of America,” Mnuchin during Monday’s Fox Business Network interview. “I wish I could get back on the road soon.”

Mnuchin is optimistic the economy will come “roaring back” after the pandemic subsides and restrictions are lifted, as IJR previously reported.

While experts are unsure of how long the economic downturn will last, Mnuchin believes it will come to an end sooner rather than later.

Mnuchin is confident the economy will bounce back in a matter of months rather than years, as IJR previously reported.

As of Thursday morning, there are more than 1,231,000 confirmed coronavirus cases in the United States, along with over 73,000 deaths due to the virus.
