Radio host Charlamagne Tha God is expressing concern about the possibility of presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden selecting Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) as his vice president pick.
MSNBC host Joy Reid asked Charlamagne his thoughts on the possibility of Klobuchar being selected as Biden’s running mate during an interview on Sunday.
The “Breakfast Club” radio host said he believes the Democratic Party could be subject to “voter depression” on top of many other problematic factors.
“On top of Russian interference and voter suppression, Dems have to worry about voter depression,” Charlamagne said, adding, “That’s people staying home on election day because they just aren’t enthused by the candidate.”
Charlamagne went on to note how Biden is currently running his campaign amid the coronavirus outbreak. Despite the pandemic, Charlamagne is urging Biden to step out and be proactive.
“You can’t act like this is the most important election ever but run a campaign from your basement and not, you know, make some real policy commitments to the black community,” Charlamagne said. “You know, not listen to some of the demands that the black community are making.”

Charlamagne’s latest interview comes just days after Biden’s appearance on his radio show.
Shortly after the radio segment aired, Biden found himself at the center of controversy for saying, “If you have a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or for Trump, then you ain’t black,” as previously reported on IJR.
Biden’s remark sparked a media firestorm which ultimately led to an apology from the former vice president.
When asked about the debacle, Charlamagne released a statement where he stressed the importance of Democratic candidates abandoning assumptions that they already have the African American vote without being proactive in earning the votes.
“We have been loyal to Democrats for a long time, black people have invested a lot into that party and the return on investment has not been great,” Charlamagne wrote in a statement to Mediaite.
He continued, “As Biden said in our brief interview when I asked him if Dems owe the black community ABSOLUTELY was his answer. So let’s see what you got!!! Votes are Quid Pro Quo. You can’t possibly want me to Fear Trump MORE than I want something for my people.”
