President Donald Trump announced tentative plans to send law enforcement and U.S. attorneys to United States polling locations to prevent the possibility of voter fraud during the general election in November.

While the final night of the Democratic Convention was underway, Trump was conducting a phone interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity.

During that interview, Trump reiterated his concerns about voter fraud, namely the practice of mail-in voting. According to the president, “anybody can sign” universal mail-in ballots.

Now, the president is touting a new plan he believes will combat widespread voter fraud. The president claimed he would have “law enforcement” and “U.S. attorneys” stationed at polling locations during the election.

“We’re going to have everything,” Trump said, as he added, “We’re going to have sheriffs, and we’re going to have law enforcement. And we’re going to have hopefully U.S. attorneys, and we’re going to have everybody and attorney generals.”

Although mail-in voting and absentee ballots have been used for decades, Trump insists “Nobody’s ever heard of anything like this.”

The president went on to claim ballots may be sent out to “all Democrat areas” while excluding Republican areas.

“They may send them to all Democrat areas, not to the Republican areas as an example,” he added. “Could be the other way too, but I doubt it.”

Trump’s remarks came as multiple Democratic leaders criticized his leadership during the Democratic National Convention.

In addition to the interview, Trump took to Twitter multiple times firing back at various Democratic speakers including Andrew M. Yang, Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.), and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, as previously reported on IJR.

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden also criticized the president’s handling of the pandemic during his speech although he did not mention him by name.

The general election is scheduled for November 3, 2020.
