As President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump paid their respects to the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, protesters chanted “vote him out.”

Later on Thursday, Trump was asked about the chants, he said, “Well, I think that was just a political chant. We could hardly hear it from where we were. Somebody said there was some chanting, but they were right next to the media.”

“We heard a sound, but it wasn’t very strong,” he added.

Watch the video below:

Q: "How did you feel about some of the chanting outside the Supreme Court? Vote you out? Uphold her wish?"

Ginsburg, 87, died last Friday due to complications from pancreatic cancer, as IJR reported.

Ginsburg’s casket arrived at the Supreme Court on Wednesday, and there were two days of public viewing. On Friday, she will make history as the first woman to lie in state in the Capitol.

Trump has said he would like to nominate a replacement to fill the new vacancy on the court. He also said he would like the Senate to confirm his nominee before the general election in November.

The president plans to announce his nominee at the White House on Saturday.
