Dr. Jill Biden is confident her husband and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden is ready for his upcoming presidential debate with President Donald Trump.

“Oh my gosh yes he’s ready. One of the things I’m excited for is when the American people see Joe Biden up there on that stage, they’re going to see what a President looks like,” Jill Biden said during her appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

She added, “Someone who is, like I’m saying, calm, steady, strong, resilient. It’s like night and day between the two candidates and so I can’t wait for the American people to see Joe, to see that statesman, up there in front of the American public.”

Host Jake Tapper noted Biden has been known to make the occasional gaffe.

Jill Biden quickly fired back.

“Oh, you can’t even go there. After Donald Trump you cannot even say the word gaffe,” Jill Biden said.

She reiterated, “Nope. Done. It’s gone.”

The first presidential debate is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 29, at 9 p.m. at Case Western Reserve University and Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.

Not everyone believes it is worth Biden’s time to debate Trump.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told CBS, “So … Why bother? He doesn’t tell the truth, he isn’t committed to our Constitution,” as IJR previously reported.

During a press briefing in August Pelosi said, “I don’t think that there should be any debates. I do not think that the president of the United States has comported himself in a way that anybody has any association with truth, evidence, data, and facts.”

Topics for the upcoming debate include the Trump and Biden records, the Supreme Court, COVID-19, the economy, race and violence in our cities, and the integrity of our election, as IJR previously reported.
