President Donald Trump is taking aim at Senator Cory Booker (D-N.J.) for criticizing him during Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s Senate confirmation hearing this week.

“How dare failed Presidential Candidate (1% and falling!) [Cory Booker] make false charges and statements about me in addressing Judge Barrett. Illegally, never even lived in Newark when he was Mayor. Guy is a total loser! I want better Healthcare for far less money,” Trump said.

He added, “Always protecting people with Pre-existing conditions. He has done nothing on Healthcare, cost or otherwise, or virtually anything else. An empty suit!!!”

Booker slammed Republicans for rushing the nomination process during the first day of Barrett’s hearings, as IJR previously reported.

He called the hearing “not normal.”

“We’re here because in the middle of a deadly pandemic, in the middle of an ongoing election, Senate Republicans have found a nominee in Judge Barrett who they know will do what they couldn’t do: subvert the will of the American people and overturn the ACA and overturn Roe v. Wade,” Booker said.

He continued, “This is a charade when they say this a normal Judiciary Committee hearing for a Supreme Court nomination. There is nothing about this that’s normal. It’s not normal that Senate Republicans are rushing through a confirmation hearing, violating their own words, their own statements, betraying the trust of the American people and their colleagues.”

Lawmakers pressed Barrett to answer questions about her position on issues including the Affordable Care Act and abortion.

She told them she is “not here on a mission to destroy the Affordable Care Act,” as IJR previously reported.

Barrett went on, “I’m just here to apply the law and adhere to the rule of law.”

When asked about Roe v. Wade, Barrett indicated the landmark case was not a “super-precedent” that could not potentially be overturned.
