Demi Lovato is pleading with President Donald Trump to recognize the struggles Americans are facing amid the coronavirus pandemic and racial unrest in her new song “Commander in Chief.”

She penned the anthem with Julia Michaels, Finneas, Justin Tranter and Eren Cannata.

Lovato released a tearful video on Wednesday featuring Americans of all ages and ethnicities.

Throughout the video, they sing along to Lovato’s lyrics, which criticize Trump for his failure to understand the American people’s suffering.

Toward the end of the video, Lovato appears to be crying and questions Trump on how he can continue to do the things he does while Americans are in pain.

“Honestly, if I did the things you do, I couldn’t sleep, Seriously, do you even know the truth? We’re in a state of crisis, people are dying while you line your pockets deep, Commander in Chief, how does it feel to still be able to breathe?” Lovato sings.

Watch the video below:

Lovato took to Instagram to urge her fans to vote in the upcoming presidential election.

“I’m calling on all of you, please join me in voting for this years election. Find your voter information at iwillvote.com,” Lovato wrote.

In a time-limited post, Lovato responded to her critics.

One critic told Lovato, “I’m personally ashamed to be a Lovatic right now but no matter how hard it is I’m not letting this song change my feelings about you especially after everything you have helped me with. I really hope this doesn’t ruin your career Demetria.”

“I literally don’t care if this ruins my career,” she wrote Wednesday.

Lovato went on, “This isn’t about that. My career isn’t about that. I made a piece of art that stands for something I believe in. And I’m putting it out even at the risk of losing fans. I’ll take integrity in my work over sales any day.”
