Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) is suggesting President Donald Trump will do anything to win more votes in the upcoming presidential election, including supporting Medicare For All.

Radio host Dean Obeidallah discussed the next coronavirus relief package and how Democrats and Republicans cannot seem to reach an agreement.

“Today, Trump is like Nancy Pelosi won’t make a deal with us, but at the same time he goes, ‘I want to offer more than what Pelosi wants,'” Obeidallah said.

He added, “It’s not Trump and Pelosi that can’t reach a deal, because Trump will agree to anything to give out free money — it’s the Republicans in the Senate.”

Sanders agreed with Obeidallah and then turned his attention to Trump’s position on Medicare for All.

“Let me tell you something that nobody else will tell you — if Donald Trump thought that he could get five more votes, he would come out for Medicare For All. He has no ideology, I mean, he lies all of the time. He’s appealing to white extremists,” Sanders said.

Watch his comments below:

Sanders argued if someone told Trump Medicare For All was a good idea, Americans would hear about it on Fox News the next day.

He added, “Bottom line is there are some 20 Senators, Republican Senators, who really do not want to do anything. And that is why I am a little bit pessimistic about us doing anything under Republican leadership.”

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) shot down Trump’s idea to raise his offer of $1.8 trillion for a COVID-19 relief deal, as IJR previously reported.

The White House put forth a proposal of $1.8 trillion last week, but House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) rejected the offer.

McConnell released a statement on Tuesday announcing he would be forcing a vote on a “targeted” relief package next week, as IJR previously reported.
