President-elect Joe Biden is weighing in on accusations being made against his son Hunter Biden.

“We have great confidence in our son,” Biden said during an interview with late-night show host Stephen Colbert, which aired late Thursday. “I am not concerned about any accusations being made against him.”

The president-elect continued, “It’s used to get to me. I think it’s kind of foul play but look, it is what it is and he’s a grown man, he is the smartest man I know. I mean, from a pure intellectual capacity — and as long as he’s good, we’re good.”

Joe Biden’s comments come amid an investigation into his son’s taxes. Hunter Biden revealed in a statement on Dec. 9 that he learned the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Delaware is investigating his tax affairs. The investigation has been going on since 2018, according to Fox News.

“I take this matter very seriously, but I am confident that a professional and objective review of these matters will demonstrate that I handled my affairs legally and appropriately, including with the benefit of professional tax advisors,” Hunter Biden said in the statement.

Joe Biden’s comments on Colbert’s show is a renewed defense of his son. He also told reporters this week he is “confident” Hunter Biden did nothing wrong. He also said at another time that he is “proud” of his son when asked if Hunter Biden committed a crime.
