President-elect Joe Biden is supporting President Donald Trump’s decision to skip his inauguration.

“I was told that, on the way up here, the way over here, that he indicated he wasn’t going to show up at the inauguration, one of the few things he and I have ever agreed on. It’s a good thing, him not showing up,” Biden told reporters in Wilmington, Delaware, on Friday.

The reporter noted Biden previously said it would be beneficial if Trump showed up because it would send a signal to the nation about a peaceful transfer of power and suggested he “clearly” changed his mind on that.

“He has exceeded even my worst notions about him. He has been an embarrassment to the country, embarrassed us around the world. Not worthy, not worthy to hold that office,” Biden continued.

The former vice president explained if this were earlier on, Democrats should focus on removing him from office, but he is now more interested in being sworn in.

“If we were six months out, we should be doing everything to get him out of office – impeaching him again, trying to invoke the 25th amendment, whatever it took to get him out of office,” Biden said.

He added, “But I am focused now on us taking control as president and vice president on the 20th and to get our agenda moving as quickly as we can.”

Biden called Trump one of the most “incompetent” presidents in American history. He explained the decision to impeach Trump would be up to Congress.

Trump posted on Twitter Friday, “To all of those who have asked, I will not be going to the Inauguration on January 20th.”

According to Politico, Vice President Mike Pence is expected to attend Biden’s inauguration. A person close to Pence said, “It was a much more difficult decision days ago, but less difficult now.”
