House Democrats are unveiling an article of impeachment against President Donald Trump, charging him with “incitement of insurrection.”
The resolution was unveiled early Monday and will be introduced at 11 a.m. EST. It is expected to be voted on this week.
This comes amid strong criticism condemning Trump for his behavior last week as protestors stormed the U.S. Capitol.
The resolution reads, “In all this, President Trump gravely endangered the security of the United States and its institutions of Government.”
It continues, “He threatened the integrity of the democratic system, interfered with the peaceful transition of power, and imperiled a coequal branch of Government. He thereby betrayed his trust as President, to the manifest injury of the people of the United States.”

If passed, this would make it the second time Trump would be impeached by the House of Representatives — the first in U.S. history a president would be impeached twice.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said in a letter to her Democratic colleagues on Sunday that House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) will be requesting unanimous consent on Monday to bring up a resolution that calls on Vice President Mike Pence and the Cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment.
It would “declare the President incapable of executing the duties of his office,” Pelosi’s letter reads. This would mean Pence would be in charge until President-elect Joe Biden is inaugurated on Jan. 20.
She said if it is blocked then the House will bring up the legislation on Tuesday and give Pence 24 hours to respond.
“Next, we will proceed with bringing impeachment legislation to the Floor,” Pelosi said.

Pelosi said of the push to invoke the 25th Amendment during an interview with CBS’ Leslie Stahl, “Well, I like the 25th Amendment because it gets rid of him. He’s out of office. But there is strong support in the Congress for impeaching the president a second time.”
