President Donald Trump does not appear to be concerned that Vice President Mike Pence will invoke the 25th Amendment and work with the Cabinet to remove him from office.

In remarks made during a trip to the southern border on Tuesday, Trump said, “Free speech is under assault like never before. The 25th Amendment is of zero risk to me.”

“But it will come back to haunt Joe Biden and the Biden administration. As the expression goes, ‘Be careful what you wish for,'” he added.

Additionally, he slammed House Democrats’ latest push to impeach him, which he called a “continuation of the greatest and most vicious witch hunt in the history of our country.”

“And [it] is causing tremendous anger and division and pain, far greater than most people will ever understand, which is very dangerous for the USA, especially at this very tender time,” he said.

Trump’s comments come almost a week after hundreds of pro-Trump rioters stormed the U.S. Capitol, interrupting Congressional proceedings and leaving five people dead.

After the violence at the Capitol, Democrats accused the president of inciting rioters. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has called on Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office.

Democratic lawmakers are pushing for legislation that would urge Pence and the Cabinet to declare Trump unfit for office and remove him. However, the vice president does not appear likely to take such action.

House Democrats are expected to vote on an article of impeachment accusing the president of “incitement of insurrection” on Wednesday. However, there are doubts that Congress will impeach and convict Trump before January 20, when he is slated to leave office.

Trump called the 2019 impeachment effort the “greatest witch hunt in American history.”
