Former Secretary State of Hillary Clinton is weighing in on the Capitol riot that broke out nearly two weeks ago.

During her podcast, “You and Me Both,” in an interview with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), Clinton questioned if President Donald Trump had been recently speaking with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“I would love to see his phone records to see whether he was talking to Putin the day that the insurgents invaded our Capitol,” Clinton said.

She then asked Pelosi if she believes there should be a 9/11-type commission “to investigate and report everything that they can pull together and explain what happened.”

“I do,” Pelosi agreed, before touching on Clinton’s remark of who Trump is “beholden to.”

The House speaker added that she has said to Trump, “With you, Mr. President, all roads lead to Putin.”

Pelosi continued, “I don’t know what Putin has on him politically, financially or personally, but what happened last week was a gift to Putin because Putin wants to undermine democracy in our country and throughout the world.”

Congress needs to establish an investigative body like the 9/11 Commission to determine Trump's ties to Putin so we can repair the damage to our national security and prevent a puppet from occupying the presidency ever again. pic.twitter.com/yR7LQmXm5Z

Pelosi also called the protesters who stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 “Putin puppets,” then adding, “So yes, we should have a 9/11 commission and there is strong support in the Congress to do that.”

The House of Representatives voted last week to impeach Trump — the first time in U.S. history a president has been impeached twice — on the charge of “incitement of insurrection.”

Former U.S. Attorney General William Barr told ITV News that questioning the integrity of the 2020 presidential election “precipitated” the Capitol riot, as IJR reported on.

“I’m sad to see, but not surprised in a way to see, the kind of violence we saw on Capitol Hill,” Barr also said, adding, “Regardless of which side of the political spectrum is involved, we just cannot tolerate violence interfering with the processes of government.”
