Former President Donald Trump’s legal team has shut the door on the possibility that he would testify during the Senate’s impeachment trial.
However, “Saturday Night Live’s” (SNL) Colin Jost urged the former president to testify during the “Weekend Update.”
“Former social media influencer Donald Trump,” Jost began, “He will not testify at his impeachment trial next week, and I think I speak for all of us when I say, ‘come on, please?”
“Give us one last show, man! You know, stop feeling sorry for yourself, put in your extensions, and burst into that trial like it’s Maury Povich, and you are not the father. Come on, think about it, you can yell out all the tweets you haven’t been allowed to post for the last month,” he added.

Finally, he said, “Sadly, Trump is not going to be doing that, but he will be defended at the trial by the lawyers who refused to prosecute Bill Cosby and who agreed to represent Jeffrey Epstein before his death, which raises the question, what does Trump think he’s being impeached for?”
House Democrats’ impeachment managers sent a letter to Trump on Feb. 4 asking that he testify under oath in the trial, as IJR reported.
“I write to invite you to provide your testimony under oath, either before or during the Senate impeachment trial, concerning your conduct on January 6,” the letter read.
It added, “If you decline this invitation, we reserve any and all rights, including the right to establish at trial that your refusal to testify supports a strong adverse inference regarding your actions (and inaction) on January 6, 2021.”
However, Trump’s legal team fired back and called the letter a “public relations stunt.”
Additionally, his legal team told NBC’s Kristen Welker that the former president would not testify as part of the trial.
