Even if former President Donald Trump ran again for president and won, Twitter says he will not be allowed back onto the social media platform.

Trump was permanently banned from Twitter before he left office just shortly after pro-Trump protesters stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.

Twitter CFO Ned Segal clarified Trump’s Twitter ban as he told CNBC on Wednesday, “The way our policies work, when you’re removed from the platform, you’re removed from the platform, whether you’re a commentator, you’re a CFO, or you are a former or current public official.”

He continued, “Remember, our policies are designed to make sure that people are not inciting violence, and if anybody does that, we have to remove them from the service and our policies don’t allow people to come back.”

When asked if the answer is “no” Trump cannot return to Twitter, Segal said, “He was removed when he was president and there would be no difference for anyone who’s a public official once they’ve been removed from the service.”

When announcing Trump’s ban on Twitter, the social media platform said in a blog post that they “permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence.”

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey weighed in on Trump’s ban, previously stating that he thought it was the “right decision,” as IJR reported.

“I believe this was the right decision for Twitter,” Dorsey said in a series of tweets.

He added at the time, “Having to take these actions fragment the public conversation. They divide us. They limit the potential for clarification, redemption, and learning. And sets a precedent I feel is dangerous: the power an individual or corporation has over a part of the global public conversation.”
