Former Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R-Ga.) is urging Georgia’s attorney general to launch an investigation into Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger.

“I write to request an investigation into whether actions taken by Brad Raffensperger… in his capacity as Secretary of State of Georgia, put his political self-interest ahead of the people of Georgia in conducting elections, and whether these actions constitute a conflict of interest in violation of the Georgia Constitution and/or statutes,” Loeffler wrote to Attorney General Chris Carr in a letter obtained by the Washington Examiner.

Loeffler claimed Raffensperger has made “unprecedented changes to elections in his constitutional duty to conduct elections.”

She also accused him of minimizing “voters’ legitimate concerns about changes to Georgia’s elections which were related to the pandemic.”

When touching on the reason behind the request, Loeffler explained it is “not about the outcome of an election, but about the loss of confidence in our elections and the importance of holding elected officials accountable for upholding the law and carrying out their constitutional duties.”

The former senator listed seven examples of how she believed Raffensperger furthered his own self-interests including making “changes to critical elections procedures” and recording a call with former President Donald Trump he later released to The Washington Post.

“Georgians deserve answers regarding these issues and to understand the impact these and other matters have on future elections,” Loeffler wrote.

She continued, “Failure to acknowledge these issues and irregularities will lead to a continued loss of trust in our elections.”

In a statement to the Washington Examiner, Raffensperger said, “The letter and the allegations in it are laughable.”
