Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger (R) is firing back at former Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R) after she called for an investigation into him.
During an appearance on Fox News on Thursday, Raffensperger was asked about his plans as it appears the Republican Party “might be pushing” him “to the side” after he pushed back on former President Donald Trump’s baseless allegations of widespread fraud in the presidential election.
“Many people support what I have done, when I talk to people throughout the state… there were still some hard feelings from some of the people, but many of the people understood that we did everything right — they didn’t like the results, but neither did I,” Raffenserger responded as he said he plans to run for reelection in 2022.
When asked if he would support Loeffler if she won the party’s nomination for senator, he said, “I don’t believe that’s going to happen. I think that what the base wants is someone that’s a true blue Trump supporter, and she’s a fake Trumper.”
“That’s such a wild hypothetical. Let’s talk about it if it happens,” he added.

Loeffler, a strong supporter of Trump, lost her election bid to Raphael Warnock (D) in January.
Earlier this week, Loeffler asked the Georgia state attorney general to investigate Raffensperger as she claimed he “put his political self-interest ahead of the people of Georgia in conducting elections, and whether these actions constitute a conflict of interest in violation of the Georgia Constitution and/or statutes.”
She also asserted that he made “unprecedented changes to elections in his constitutional duty to conduct elections.”
Raffensperger was heavily criticized by Trump after he shot down the former president’s claims that there was widespread fraud that tilted the results of the election in the state in President Joe Biden’s favor.
