Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) is declaring that he is ready to move on from the 2020 election and focus on the midterm elections.

While speaking to reporters on Monday, Graham said, “I accept the results of the election. ….2020 is over to me. I’m ready to march on and hopefully take back the House and the Senate in 2022.”

His comments come as former President Donald Trump repeated his unfounded claims of widespread fraud in the election. In a statement over the weekend, he said the 2020 presidential election “will go down as THE CRIME OF THE CENTURY!”

Former Attorney General William Barr told the Associated Press in December that, “To date, we have not seen fraud on a scale that could have affected a different outcome in the election.”

While Graham said he accepts the results of the election, he also said he supports changes to voting laws ahead of the midterm elections.

“I think what we need to do is reform election systems. …So I think it’s smart to reform our laws to make sure you are who you are,” he said, adding, “I think there are a lot of people that feel like bad things happened in the election… But I think President Trump and the Republican Party needs to focus on election reform and the upcoming election.”

In the wake of Trump’s claims of widespread fraud, Republican lawmakers have introduced several bills aimed at limiting early and mail-in voting.

A tally compiled by the Brennan Center found that as of March 24, there are 361 bills that would put new restrictions on voting measures in 47 states. Additionally, it found that five such bills have been signed into law.
