The Trump Organization and its chief financial officer Allen Weisselberg are expected to be charged with tax-related crimes, according to a new report.

The Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday the Manhattan district attorney’s office is set to charge the Trump organization and Weisselberg on Thursday.

The outlet noted the charges would mark the first against Trump’s company since prosecutors began investigating it three years ago.

According to his lawyer, the former president himself is not expected to be charged. People familiar with the matter said Weisselberg has rejected attempts by prosecutors to get him to cooperate.

The people familiar with the matter also said the “Trump Organization and Weisselberg are expected to face charges related to allegedly evading taxes on fringe benefits,” as The Wall Street Journal reports.

NBC noted District Attorney Cy Vance’s office has been conducting an investigation into a wide range of allegations of financial misconduct against Trump’s company.

His office has been investigating criminal conduct at the organization, including falsifying business records, insurance fraud, and tax fraud, as the outlet reports.

Ron Fischetti, an attorney for the Trumps, said last week that the impending charges are “completely outrageous” and are being pursued because Weisselberg would not cooperate with investigators.

“They could not get him to cooperate because he would not say that Donald Trump had knowledge or any information that he may have been not deducting properly the use of cars or an apartment,” Fischetti said.
