Former President Donald Trump claims Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is a “weak” leader as the Senate is moving ahead with a bipartisan infrastructure package.
In a statement on Thursday, Trump said, “Under the weak leadership of Mitch McConnell, Senate Republicans continue to lose. He lost Arizona, he lost Georgia, he ignored Election Fraud and he doesn’t fight.”
“Now he’s giving Democrats everything they want and getting nothing in return. No deal is better than a bad deal. Fight for America, not for special interests and Radical Democrats. RINOs are ruining America, right alongside Communist Democrats.,” he continued.

His statement comes after the Senate voted 67-32 to begin debate on a roughly $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill.
The bill includes $550 billion in new spending. It would spend $110 billion on roads, bridges, and other major projects, $11 billion in transportation safety programs, $39 billion in transportation modernization, and $7.5 billion to build a network of electric car chargers, $66 billion in railway improvements, and $73 billion in “power infrastructure and clean energy transmission.”
Trump has issued several statements slamming the infrastructure deal and pressuring Republicans to block the legislation.
In a statement on Wednesday night, he said, “Hard to believe our Senate Republicans are dealing with the Radical Left Democrats in making a so-called bipartisan bill on ‘infrastructure,’ with our negotiators headed up by SUPER RINO Mitt Romney.”
“This will be a victory for the Biden Administration and Democrats, and will be heavily used in the 2022 election. It is a loser for the USA, a terrible deal, and makes the Republicans look weak, foolish, and dumb. It shouldn’t be done,” he added.
Earlier this week, he claimed that Republicans are being “absolutely savaged by Democrats on the so-called ‘bipartisan’ infrastructure bill.” He also urged them to “wait until after we get proper election results in 2022” to negotiate a deal.
