Former President Donald Trump is still angry with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), according to an upcoming book.

Journalist Bob Woodward co-authored a book with Washington Post reporter Robert Costa, titled, “Peril.” CNN reported the book is based on more than 200 interviews and details the former president’s last days in office. It is Woodward’s third book on Trump’s time in the White House.

The book reveals Trump is still angry with McCarthy and other Republicans who placed blame on him for the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.

“This guy called me every single day, pretended to be my best friend, and then, he f****d me. He’s not a good guy,” Trump said.

He also said McCarthy “came down to kiss my ass and wants my help to win the House back.”

McCarthy said on the House floor just one week after the riot Trump “bears responsibility” for the event, adding, “He should have immediately denounced the mob when he saw what was unfolding. These facts require immediate action by President Trump.”

During a July press conference, McCarthy dodged a question about whether he thinks Trump still bears responsibility for the attack.

“I think from the standpoint that we wanted to make sure that resources were brought here as fast as possible. When I called the president, I was telling him about what was happening in the Capitol because none of you would know unless you were in the Capitol,” McCarthy explained.

He added, “Lo and behold, the information we have today — I didn’t know at that moment in time that Pelosi had been passed a note to call the National Guard. I didn’t know at that time the sergeant-at-arms said he couldn’t have it because of optics, because he never spoke to us.”
