Comedian Amy Schumer says she is “traumatized” and “triggered” by a viral moment that occurred between Will Smith and Chris Rock at the Oscars.

In an Instagram post, Schumer — a co-host of the Oscars — wrote, “Still triggered and traumatized. I love my friend [Chris Rock] and believe he handled it like a pro. Stayed up there and gave an Oscar to his friend [Questlove] and the whole thing was so disturbing.”

“So much pain in [Will Smith] anyway I’m still in shock and stunned and sad. Im [sic] proud of myself and my cohosts. But yeah. Waiting for this sickening feeling to go away from what we all witnessed,” she added.

During the Oscars on Sunday night, Rock made a joke about Will Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, because of her hair.

“Jada, I love you. ‘G.I. Jane 2,’ can’t wait to see it,” Rock said.

As The New York Times notes, Pinkett Smith has alopecia which is a condition that leads to hair loss.

After the joke, Will Smith walked up on stage and smacked Rock.

Upon returning to his seat, he could be heard saying, “Keep my wife’s name out of your f***ing mouth!”

On Sunday night, Smith won the award for best actor for his role in “King Richard.” And on Monday, he apologized for slapping Rock, as IJR reported.

“Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear, and I reacted emotionally,” he said in a post on Instagram.

The actor added, “I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line, and I was wrong. I am embarrassed, and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.”
