“The View” co-host Sunny Hostin is suggesting that Telsa CEO Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter will primarily benefit “straight white men.”
During a segment on Tuesday, Hostin said, “In fact, on Twitter, it is predominantly straight white men.”
“So when Elon Musk says, ‘Wow, this is about free speech,’ it seems to me that it’s about free speech of straight white men,” she continued.
Finally, Hostin added, “So let them have it. Let them just go at it.”

Hostin’s comments come after Twitter accepted Musk’s offer to buy the company for around $44 billion.
In a press release after the deal was announced, Parag Agrawal, Twitter’s CEO, said, “Twitter has a purpose and relevance that impacts the entire world. Deeply proud of our teams and inspired by the work that has never been more important.”
In a statement, Musk said, “Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated.”
“I also want to make Twitter better than ever by enhancing the product with new features, making the algorithms open source to increase trust, defeating the spam bots, and authenticating all humans. Twitter has tremendous potential – I look forward to working with the company and the community of users to unlock it,” he added.
Musk’s offer to buy the company was previously met with skepticism and concerns about its ramifications.
Shortly after Musk announced he had made an offer to buy the company, MSNBC’s Katy Tur warned, “There are real and devastating consequences for using [Twitter] to lie.”
She continued, “[Elon Musk] wants to buy it, but there are massive, life and globe-altering consequences for just letting people run wild on the thing.”

Meanwhile, MSNBC’s Ari Melber raised concerns about social media’s ability to potentially influence the outcome of an election.
And “Saturday Night Live” poked fun at Musk’s offer and joked that it shows “how badly white guys want to use the N-word.”
