President Joe Biden insists that there is “no rational basis” for people having high caliber weapons.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Biden said, “The 9mm bullet blows the lung out of the body.”
“That idea that… high caliber weapon, there’s simply no rational basis for it in terms of self-protection, hunting,” he added.

Biden also said on Monday, “The Constitution, the Second Amendment was never absolute. You couldn’t buy a cannon when the Second Amendment was passed.”
“I think things have gotten so bad that everybody is getting more rational about it,” he added.
PolitiFact has previously labeled Biden’s claim about restrictions on cannon ownership “dubious.”
The president’s comments come after a shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, which killed 19 children and two adults, marking the second deadliest shooting in an elementary school in U.S. history.
On Tuesday evening, Biden delivered remarks about the shooting and said he was “sick and tired” of mass shootings.
“It’s time to turn this pain into action. For every parent, for every citizen in this country, we have to make it clear to every elected official in this country: It’s time to act,” he added
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters on Thursday that Biden is not trying “to get rid of the Second Amendment.”
