Former Trump administration official Alyssa Farah Griffin says she put a witness who provided explosive testimony about the Jan. 6 riot in touch with Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.).

During an appearance on CNN’s “New Day” Thursday, Griffin shared that she has spoken with former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson, who she is friends with, since her testimony this week before the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S Capitol.

“She’s doing remarkably well, I think better than I would have been doing in her shoes,” Griffin said. “I think she’s struck by the magnitude of the moment. But she went into it clear-eyed knowing obviously her life would change overnight but that this was incredibly important testimony she had to bring to the committee.”

Griffin went on to say that Hutchinson approached her months ago and expressed a desire to share more information with the panel:

“Cassidy actually came to me and said, ‘There’s more I want to share with the committee.’ A couple months ago, I put her in touch with Congresswoman Cheney. She got a new lawyer. And that’s how this testimony came about.”

Cheney, a vocal critic of former President Donald Trump, was appointed to the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.)

Co-host John Berman picked up on Griffin’s comments to clarify that Hutchinson approached her even after she had spoken to the committee.

She explained that “Trump World” was covering the legal costs of staffers and added that she believed Hutchinson initially had a lawyer aligned with the former president.

Hutchinson also told Griffin that when she first spoke to the committee, there was more information that she wanted to share which she was not asked about.

“In that process, she got a new attorney of her own. Congresswoman Cheney had a sense of what questions needed to be asked that weren’t previously. So that’s how this shocking testimony that people didn’t realize before kind of came about,” Griffin added.

Griffin, a former spokesperson for the Defense Department and former Vice President Mike Pence, has been a vocal critic of former President Donald Trump. She suggested last year that if he won in 2024, he would “absolutely” impose some kind of autocracy.

On Tuesday, Hutchinson delivered what has been described as bombshell testimony about Trump’s behavior on and around Jan. 6

However, some portions of the testimony — such as a second-hand account of an altercation in the presidential vehicle — have been called into question. And Secret Service agents who were in the vehicle are reportedly prepared to testify that the incident did not occur.

Additionally, the Secret Service told Politico that the committee did not reach out to corroborate the story.
