After spending four years away from the public eye, actress Hayden Panettiere opened up about her private struggles.

The actress said she struggled with postpartum depression following the birth of her daughter in 2014, according to “Good Morning America” and that’s when she turned to “the bottom of a bottle” for support.

“I didn’t have any negative feelings towards my child, I just knew I was deeply depressed and I didn’t know where, ya know, the alcoholism was ending and the postpartum was beginning and I ran myself pretty ragged,” she said.

The actress said that when she was in her darkest days it was like “somebody taking an eggbeater and scrambling around your brain.”

Watch the interview below:

1 Thessalonians 5:14 tells us, “We urge you, brethren, admonish the unruly, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with everyone.”

Panettiere said she feels like she was “walking blind” and there was nobody there that was really able to support her in the way that she needed to be supported, but she doesn’t like to ask for help.

“I wanna be that strong, stoic, woman but I mean when you see a happy-go-lucky girl for years suddenly on the floor in a puddle of mess and alcohol, you gotta know something’s wrong,” she said.

Panettiere said her recovery involved going to treatment and “making a lot of great friends” in treatment “who can speak on your same level where you don’t feel like you’re crazy.”

When asked how she was doing today, Panettiere said, “I’m good it’s an everyday battle, it really is. I’m grateful to say that I’m sober today.”

Panettiere is planning on getting back to work as she reprises her role in the “Scream 6” movie which is set to be released in theaters on March 31, 2023.
