First Lady Jill Biden is facing mockery for her decision to speak at a “Latinx IncluXion Luncheon.”
ABC News affiliate KSAT 12 tweeted on Monday, “The First Lady will visit San Antonio Monday to speak at the Latinx IncluXion Luncheon.”
“Latinx” is a term that has become popular among some liberals and is used as a gender-neutral alternative to Latino or Latina that is meant to be more inclusive for the LGBT community.
And thus, the event that Jill Biden is speaking at decided to take it a step further and change inclusion to “IncluXion” — perhaps it is an attempt to be playful. This is just going too far.
Polls show that the word is unpopular among Hispanic voters.
A poll of voters of Latin American descent, conducted by Bendixen and Amandi International, a Miami-based Democratic firm, found that 68% of respondents said they prefer the term Hispanic. Meanwhile, 21% said they preferred Latino.
And 40% said “Latinx” is offensive.
Even Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) criticized Democrats for using the phrase in a desperate attempt to bolster their electoral prospects.
Still, Jill Biden chose to speak at the event because nothing says, “We hear you and we’re fighting for you” like using made-up terms, right?

I just love that Democrats still think Latinos want to be called LatinX. Keep digging Jill! Si se Puadwe! https://t.co/czmqXcZivE

If the Biden administration is wondering why so many proud Hispanic Americans leaving the Democrxtic Pxrty, it might be they're tired of hearing things like "Latinx IncluXion."

LatinX isn’t a thing. And Democrats wonder why Latinos and Hispanics are switching parties. https://t.co/8fXncoG2LU

Any productive work that Jill Biden does here will be cancelled out by the event calling itself the Latinx Luncheon. https://t.co/mzMxAaaLqb

Why are you using a racial slur? And why aren't you asking why the First Lady is attending an event using a racial slur? https://t.co/eejCjgKcKc

Biden’s attendance at an event using what is apparently an offensive term led some users to recall the time she botched the Spanish phrase “Sí se puede” at an event last year.
“So say it with me, ‘Sí se pwaud-way,’ the future is ours,” she confidently declared.
Dr. Jill should really channel this speech:pic.twitter.com/B4K7G2QcXO https://t.co/XT2LHyQJgm

If Democrats really want to stop hemorrhaging support among Hispanic voters, perhaps they stop using these bizarre made-up terms and treating them like a monolithic bloc who think the same.
Instead, they should treat them with respect like normal humans and stop trying to force terms crafted by over-educated liberals with too much time on their hands, and listen to people who live outside of their liberal strongholds.
