‘One of the Lowest Vocabularies I Have Ever Seen’: AOC Reacts to McCarthy’s Speech

GLASGOW, SCOTLAND - NOVEMBER 09: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, U.S. Representative for New York's 14th congressional district, speaks during an event at the US Climate Action Centre during COP26 on November 09, 2021 in Glasgow, Scotland. Day ten of the 2021 climate summit in Glasgow will focus on Gender, Science and Innovation. This is the 26th "Conference of the Parties" and represents a gathering of all the countries signed on to the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Climate Agreement. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) believes it may be time for Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) to consider a career change.

Ocasio-Cortez reacted to Abbott’s tweet about two buses that dropped migrants off near Vice President Kamala Harris’ home in Washington, D.C.

“This morning, two Texas buses of migrants arrived at the Naval Observatory in DC. VP Harris claims our border is ‘secure’ [and] denies the crisis,” Abbott wrote.

He added, “We’re sending migrants to her backyard to call on the Biden Administration to do its job [and] secure the border.”

Ocasio-Cortez quoted tweeted the governor and wrote, “I remember how folks stepped up to help Texans when you left them cold and hungry during the freeze. We will welcome these families too. They have so much to offer.”

“You do seem to be struggling at your job, though. Maybe you should consider if this is the right work for you,” she suggested.

Abbott started sending buses carrying migrants to Washington, D.C., in April, as IJR reported.

“Biden refuses to come see the mess he’s made at the border,” Abbot tweeted at the time.

He added, “So Texas is bringing the border to him.”

In a Sept. 9 press release, Abbott’s office stated that at least 10,000 migrants had been bused to New York City, Washington, D.C., and Chicago collectively.

The Texas governor appeared on Fox News on Friday and was asked if he has a plan to stop busing migrants.

“We do have a plan to stop the process,” Abbott responded. “And that plan begins with the Biden administration finally securing the border.”

He added, “All Biden has to do is replicate what Trump did, and that would lead to a reduction in border crossings. And that would lead to the elimination of us busing people to regions across the country.”

The governor also did not rule out sending busloads of migrants to other cities.
