White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was questioned about a report on what President Joe Biden’s plans are for the 2024 election.
During a press briefing on Tuesday, a reporter asked Jean-Pierre whether Biden told Rev. Al Sharpton he was running again in 2024.
“Here’s what I can say and the president has said this himself. He intends to run in 2024,” Jean-Pierre said.
She added, “As you know, I cannot weigh in on elections. I cannot speak to elections from here. We do truly follow and try to follow the Hatch Act here.”
The White House press secretary told reporters she will “just reiterate what the president has said many times … is that the president intends to.”

On Monday night, NBC News reported Biden told Sharpton that he would run again during a conversation with him at the White House last month.
Sharpton then reportedly informed his National Action Network staff later that same day.
“I’m going to do it again,” Biden said.
He added, “I’m going.”
During an interview with “60 Minutes” last month, correspondent Scott Pelley asked the president about his intentions on running.
“Sir, are you committed to running again, or are there certain conditions that have to be right?” Pelley asked.
Biden replied, “Look, if I were to say to you, I’m running again, all of a sudden, a whole range of things come into play that I have– requirements I have to change and move and do.”
He explained, “In terms of election laws. and it’s much too early to make that kind of decision. I’m a great respecter of fate. And so, what I’m doing is I’m doing my job. I’m gonna do that job. And within the timeframe that makes sense after this next election cycle here, going into next year, make a judgment on what to do.”
The president went on to tell Pelley his “intention as I said to begin with is that I would run again,” adding, “But it’s just an intention. But is it a firm decision that I run again? That remains to be seen.”
