President Joe Biden appeared to forget the title of one of his key Cabinet officials.

During remarks on Wednesday, the president spoke about the United States’ support of Ukraine. He announced the U.S. will send M1 Abrams tanks to Ukraine.

But he appeared to forget the title of secretary of Defense and labeled the position the secretary of the military.

“[The] secretary of State, secretary of… of the uh… of uh, of, uh, the military behind me,” Biden said.

He added, “They’ve been deeply, deeply involved in this whole effort. Armored capability as Gen. Austin would you tell has been critical.”

Biden has previously made mistakes when referring to Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.

In Mar. 2021, he said, “I want to thank the sec… the, the former general. I keep calling him general, but my, my… the guy who runs that outfit over there.

“I want to make sure we thank the secretary for all he’s done to try to implement what we just talked about,” he added.

In case you missed it:

And in Mar. 2022, the president appeared to accidentally refer to Austin as the secretary of State.

While thanking the 82nd Airborne Division paratroopers stationed in Rzeszow, Poland, Biden said, “The general, secretary of state, asked me if I would send over 12,000 troops.”

“There are 100,000 American forces here now. We haven’t had that in a long, long time, because we are the organizing principle for the rest of the world. He said you sent the best, the best available in America, and that’s all of you,” he added.

Austin made history as the first Black Defense secretary when he was confirmed to the position in 2021.
