Singer Ciara and NFL quarterback Russell Wilson made a spiritual impact inside a maximum security prison.

The married couple recently visited Everglades Correctional Institution in Miami, Florida, through the faith-based organization God Behind Bars which ministers to both men and women in prison, per Entertainment Tonight (ET).

In a video posted on the organization’s TikTok, Russell Wilson proceeded to encourage the 300 incarcerated men with the bible verse Isaiah 43:18, which speaks about not dwelling “in the past” and God “doing a new thing.”

In the prison’s chapel, Ciara shared a touching message with the inmates about God’s forgiveness.

She said:

“You know what’s so beautiful about God’s love? It’s relentless. He don’t let off. He don’t let off. And do you know what I love about God and what He said and what His promise is? There is no condemnation in Christ Jesus. So, if you ask for forgiveness, He will forgive you.”

She added that her “heart is filled with joy” and then led them in the song, “Way Maker.”

In a video shared by God Behind Bars on their Instagram page, the Denver Broncos quarterback also encouraged an inmate to sing a worship song.

The organization wrote about the life-changing experience in the caption.

“During worship inside of a maximum security prison, [Russell Wilson] brought this incarcerated brother up to sing…As the band began to sing Jireh, he began to sing…The whole room of 300 inmates were in shock when they heard his voice. You could feel the environment of the room change. The presence of God filled this prison chapel as these incarcerated men Praised, Worshipped, and cheered,” they wrote.

Continuing, they wrote, “We will never be the same after this moment. God is working behind prison walls. Jesus still has a purpose and plan for each and every man in that room!”

In a statement written on their website, God Behind Bars shared, “By inviting God into prison and showing His love in tangible ways, God Behind Bars is restoring lives, building faith, fighting addictions, reconnecting families, and giving thousands of inmates hope for the future.”
