Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) shared his thoughts on how school shooters should be punished.

On Monday, Scott took to Twitter to react to the news that six individuals were murdered at a Christian school in Nashville, Tennessee.

“We need to consider an automatic death penalty for school shooters. Life in prison is not enough for the deranged monsters who go into our schools to kill innocent kids and educators,” Scott tweeted.

He added, “Pray for all facing the unimaginable in Nashville. This is horrible and must stop.”

Scott received criticism from some with writer Matt Oswalt replying, “Anyone deranged enough to walk into a school and slaughter innocent children doesn’t give a f**k about their own life but keep ignoring the solution you spineless NRA suck-up.”

Writer Brian Klaas tweeted, “These people are unbelievable. They will consider every possible policy change—except the one that will actually work. No other rich country has this problem because no other rich country has such insane gun laws. It’s that simple.”

Democratic strategist Kurt Bardella responded, “Hey dumb-ass – the shooter is already dead so your ‘solution’ doesn’t even pertain to what happened in [Nashville] today.”

President Joe Biden commented on the matter of using executive action to combat gun violence.

“I have gone the full extent of my executive authority, to do on my own, anything about guns,” Biden said while speaking to reporters.

He called on lawmakers to reinstate an assault weapons ban.

“The majority of the American people think having assault weapons is bizarre, it’s a crazy idea. They’re against that. And so, I think the Congress should be passing an assault weapons ban,” Biden said.

He continued, “I want to remind you, the last time we passed the assault weapons ban violent shooting went down. Mass shootings went down … I can’t do anything except plead with the Congress to act reasonably.”
