Two Democratic lawmakers are floating the idea of holding a screening of the upcoming “Barbie” movie at the Library of Congress.

Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-Fla.) suggested the idea of hosting a screening of the widely anticipated film featuring Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie. Though the “Barbie” movie is slated to be released on July 21, it has garnered widespread enthusiasm.

“How do we get a Barbie Blowout Screening @ the Library of Congress or something???” Frost asked in his post on Sunday.

Frost’s suggestion was met with agreement by his Democratic colleague, Rep. Robert Garcia (Calif.), who said he was “in” for the idea.

“I’m in bro. Come on Barbie let’s go party…” Garcia wrote in his post, referencing the iconic song “Barbie Girl” by Aqua.

The movie, which still has more than a week to go until it is out in theaters, has been widely promoted. Clothing retailers Gap and Forever 21 released their lines of pink “Barbie”-themed clothing.

Other companies, such as Coldstone Creamery, have partnered with Warner Bros. and Mattel to release a “Barbie”-flavored ice cream called, “Pink Cotton Candy,” according to People magazine.

While the “Barbie” movie has garnered a lot of attention, many Republican lawmakers have come out against the movie, pointing out that it allegedly shows a map depicting China’s dominance over the South China Sea, using the widely disputed nine-dash line.

The “Barbie” movie has already been banned from being shown in Vietnam over this scene of the map showing the nine-dash line, which allegedly supports China’s claims of dominance over the territory.

IJR reached out to Frost for a statement but did not receive a response back prior to publication.
