Transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney fled the country following the controversy surrounding his partnership with Bud Light.

On Monday, Mulvaney, a biological male, 26, posted a video to his TikTok page on a solo trip to Peru at Machu Picchu, an Incan city in the Andes Mountains, per the DailyWire. He stated his reasoning behind going to the country was because he wanted to “feel something.”

“And I definitely have. I have done shaman ceremonies that were like 10 years worth of therapy. It was wild,” he shared.

Furthermore, Mulvaney told his followers the people there were kind and he felt “very safe” compared to his home in the U.S.

“It’s a little sad that I had to leave my country to feel safe but that will get better eventually,” he added.

Mulvaney continued, “Most of all this trip has me feeling like my own best friend again. And that is the best feeling in the world.”

His excursion came after he posted a video on his TikTok page in June claiming the beer brand failed to reach out to him following the backlash he received for their partnership.

“For a company to hire a trans person and then not publicly stand by them is worse, in my opinion, than not hiring a trans person at all because it gives customers permission to be as transphobic and hateful as they want,” he said.

In a statement given to The Daily Beast by a spokesperson for Anheuser-Busch, the parent company for Bud Light, the person stated the company is  “committed to the programs and partnerships we have forged over decades with organizations across a number of communities, including those in the LGBTQ+ community.”

The spokesperson added, “The privacy and safety of our employees and our partners is always our top priority.”

However, Mulvaney was not mentioned by name.
