Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson has plans to create a new media company with roots in Twitter and is in the process of seeking to raise funds.

Carlson and former White House adviser and founder of the Daily Caller, Neil Patel are partnering together on this new venture, people familiar with the situation told the Wall Street Journal.

The new company will feature longer versions of the videos Carlson has been posting to Twitter since Fox News parted ways with him in April, and will run off of subscriptions, according to the outlet.

At the end of April, Carlson posted his first short video on Twitter in which he covered big and controversial topics.

The new company by Carlson and Patel will still allow users from Twitter and other social media platforms to view the short video clips. However, in order to view the full videos, users will need to subscribe, the people familiar with the situation told the outlet.

Twitter owner Elon Musk has been a supporter of free speech, telling people that he wants the social media platform to be a safe space for it. In May he tweeted that he hopes “many others, particularly from the left, also choose to be content creators” on the platform.

In June, Fox News sent Carlson a cease-and-desist letter informing him that his Twitter series was in violation of the contract he had signed with the network.

Carlson and Patel’s new company would eventually feature additional hosts and shows, the people close to the matter told the outlet.
