Lucy Letby, a 33-year-old UK neonatal nurse, has been convicted on 14 counts involving the murders of seven infants under her care and attempting to kill six other babies.

Britain’s worst ever child killer, nurse Lucy Letby, 33, convicted of murdering seven babies and attempting to murder six others, by injecting air into their blood & stomachs, overfeeding them with milk, physically assaulting them & poisoning them with insulin. The Manchester Crown Court held a 10-month trial which left the 11-person jury undecided regarding charges brought in connection to the death of four other babies.

Pascale Jones of the Crown Prosecution Service said in a statement, “Lucy Letby was entrusted to protect some of the most vulnerable babies.”

“Little did those working alongside her know that there was a murderer in their midst. She did her utmost to conceal her crimes, by varying the ways in which she repeatedly harmed babies in her care,” the statement went on.

“Time and again, she harmed babies, in an environment which should have been safe for them and their families. Parents were exposed to her morbid curiosity and her fake compassion. Too many of them returned home to empty baby rooms. Many surviving children live with permanent consequences of her assaults upon their lives,” Jones added.

According to Fox News, the trial revealed that Letby killed the infants by injecting insulin, milk, and even air into the babies’ bodies. One case also accused her of physically injuring the baby.

In addition, she was found guilty of attempting to kill one baby girl four separate times, attacking three sets of twins, and murdering two sets of triplets all within a 24-hour time frame.

Prosecutors described her as a “constant, malevolent presence” at the Countess of Chester Hospital between 2015 and 2016.

Letby was found to be the “common denominator” in the deaths of these babies as they coincided with her shifts, and the infants “suddenly severely deteriorated.”

It was doctors who raised the alarm and had her fired. Police found a “confession” on a post-it note inside Letby’s home where she wrote, “I don’t deserve to live. I killed them on purpose because I’m not good enough to care for them.”

She also noted, “I am a horrible evil person,” and called herself, “EVIL,” in the message.

Despite this, Letby denied the charges and said, “I only ever did my best to care for them.”

She claimed she is the victim of a cover-up conspiracy created to explain the neonatal unit’s failures.

An independent investigation has been ordered by the British government. UK Health Secretary Steve Barclay stated, “I would like to send my deepest sympathy to all the parents and families impacted by this horrendous case.”

“This inquiry will seek to ensure the parents and families impacted get the answers they need,” he added.
