Former President Donald Trump is roasting President Joe Biden for copying him and rushing to visit striking auto workers.

In a post on Truth Social Monday, Trump wrote, “Crooked Joe Biden, who is killing the United Autoworkers with his WEAK stance on China and his ridiculous insistence on All Electric Cars, every one of which will be made in China, saw that I was going to Michigan this week (Wednesday!), so the Fascists in the White House just announced he would go there tomorrow.”

“That was the only way to get him out of the basement and off his lazy a..! He has been a complete disaster for all Autoworkers in the U.S., so much do that with his warped plan [and] mind, their [sic] won’t be any Autoworkers left in 3 years. He is destroying our Country, and likewise, destroying the United Autoworkers,” he continued.

Finally, he added, “When he slowly walks to pretend he is a ‘picket,’ REMEMBER, HE WANTS TO TAKE YOUR JOBS AWAY AND GIVE THEM TO CHINA AND OTHER FOREIGN COUNTRIES. TURN YOUR BACK ON THIS CORRUPT AND HIGHLY INCOMPETENT PRESIDENT, BY FAR THE WORST IN THE HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES, AND SHOUT OUT TO YOUR UNION LEADERSHIP TO ENDORSE DONALD J. TRUMP. I WILL KEEP YOUR JOBS AND MAKE YOU RICH!!!”

The post comes after Trump revealed his plan to skip the second Republican primay debate and give a speech to members of the United Auto Workers (UAW) union in Detroit, Michigan.

Three days later, Biden posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, that he would “join the picket line and stand in solidarity with the men and women of UAW as they fight for a fair share of the value they helped create” on Tuesday — one day before Trump’s visit.

The dueling visits come amid the UAW’s strike and as it appears there could be some danger of Biden not receiving their support. In May, UAW president Shawn Fain said in a letter his organization would hold off on making an endorsement for president due to concerns about the push to transition to electric vehicles.

“The federal government is pouring billions into the electric vehicle transition, with no strings attached and no commitment to workers. The EV transition is at serious risk of becoming a race to the bottom,” Fain wrote.

He added, “We want to see national leadership have our back on this before we make any commitments.”

As union members go on strike to demand higher pay, it seems there may be some serious danger to Biden due to his push to move to electric vehicles.

Trump, seeing the opportunity, chose to go to a city that is not friendly toward him to speak to union workers — who are typically not inclined to vote for a Republican. It’s part of the strategy that helped him win in 2016: going almost everywhere to spread his message as far and wide as he could even if it means going to populations that have voted for the Democrats for decades.

The move gives Trump the chance to once again channel the image of him being the warrior for the forgotten men and women while the Democrat candidate hides out in his swanky liberal enclaves just assuming those union workers will vote for his party like they have done before.

And “Union Joe” must have gotten spooked that a 2016-like upset was in the works because it stirred him to leave the White House. It’s clear this was not some genuine decision as the strike has been going on for over a week, and he could have flown up there sooner if he really wanted to send a message of solidarity to the union workers.

Of course, he will not be making his long-promised stop in East Palestine, Ohio — where a trained spilled toxic chemicals earlier this year — on the way to visit auto workers. That’s probably because he assumes there’s no chance of winning any votes there.

But heck! The former president could be stealing votes in Michigan from him so now he has to race up there and shore up his support.

Trump is absolutely right to savage Biden for announcing a trip to Detroit only after his speech plans were revealed. Maybe he’s just tired and needs some extra rest. But, if Biden really cared and was really invested in the UAW members, he wouldn’t have let Trump seize the initiative.
