‘Finally Seeing the Consequences of This’: Ted Cruz Speaks About Biden’s Open Border Policy

WASHINGTON, DC - SEPTEMBER 27: Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) speaks during a press conference on border security at the U.S. Capitol Building on September 27, 2023 in Washington, DC. Senate Republicans held the news conference to speak about the southern border and the need for more money for its security to be included in upcoming government funding legislation. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) slammed the Biden Administration’s border policy amid an ongoing flood of migrants crossing the southern border.

During an interview with Fox News host Lawrence Jones on Thursday, Cruz said he felt that President Joe Biden’s border policy was “collapsing.”

On Wednesday, Alejandro Mayorkas, the secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced the Biden Administration would be waiving 26 federal laws in southern Texas in order to allow the construction of the border wall to continue.

Mayorkas said in his announcement that the border wall would be funded by the 2019 appropriations that had approved the construction of the border wall under former President Donald Trump.

“Blue states are finally seeing the consequences of this,” Cruz pointed out. “You’ve got blue mayors, you’ve got Eric Adams in New York saying that illegal immigration is destroying New York City.”

I don’t believe that President Biden cares about the border.

But as blue state Democrats see the consequences of his policies, Biden must now act like he cares.

This is all window-dressing.#BidenBorderCrisis pic.twitter.com/Fwbetgsus2

Should the wall be built?

“I don’t believe a word of it,” Cruz admitted. “I think they’re pretending. I think they’re trying to pretend they give a damn.”

Democratic politicians such as New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D-N.Y.), New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-N.Y.), and Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D-IL) have spoken out about the flood of illegal immigrants into the United States, saying that there is “no more room” for migrants.

“They’ve had about 110,000 illegal immigrants, and that’s destroying New York City, well what the heck do you think 7.6 million has done to Texas and the other border states,” Cruz said.

New York City has reported more than 110,000 migrants that have come to the city seeking asylum, according to the office of the mayor’s website.

“I do not believe for a minute Joe Biden wants to fix it,” Cruz said. “I think this is all window dressing to pretend he cares. His objective is he wants even more immigrants.”
